Originally from Los Angeles, Jarret Berenstein decided to move to New York City after graduating from Kenyon College in 2001. He performed in a few regrettable off off broadway productions before taking classes at the UCB in 2003. Since then he has performed in various improv teams, most notably MYSTERIO which originated the form "The Third Man", QUICKTIME whose two person blind harolds won them a slot in CAGEMATCH NYC, and SWEET/CRÃœDE. In 2004 he drunkenly boasted that he could improvise slam poetry better than his friend Chris, an actual slam poet. He thus created the show SLAM JAM 2005, an improvised, fake slam poetry competition, which is can currently be seen at the UCB theater. As he made far too many postcards, he is sticking with the name SLAM JAM 2005, despite the fact that it is well beyond that year. He occasionally performs stand up and waits tables at a fancy ass restaurant.
