When Meg Whitman joined eBay, the company sold everything from guns to hard core pornography. Under Whitman’s leadership, the porn site became one of the largest on the internet. Meg Whitman: bad for Republicans, bad for eBay. (THEN) In 1997, when Meg Whitman used eBay, she listed an auction for her household lawn sprinkler with a starting bid of just 99 cents. She described the item as in “like new condition” even though she used it to water the grass on her Silicon Valley mansion for a whole month. Meg Whitman’s lawn sprinkler was not in “like new condition”. (THEN) In 2001, when Meg Whitman used eBay, she listed a Singer sewing machine with a starting price of just $1.99. But Meg Whitman created a second fake eBay account called nickydiaz88 and bid up the price of the auction to almost $35. Even though auction winner ebaylover83 paid for the item using PayPal within 24 hours, Meg Whitman still left the buyer negative feedback. (THEN) Meg Whitman: bad for Republicans, bad for California Governor and really bad for eBay.
