Ellena Chmielewski has been writing, directing and performing at the UCB Theatre since 2010. She has appeared on "Broad City" on Comedy Central, "BUNK" on IFC, "The Chris Gethard Show" on MNN, and The Onion News Network. Her UCB directing credits include several premieres of new work, Goodbye, Handsome on Maude Night, 'F*ck Judy Towers' by Buzz Off, Lucille, and 'Standards & Practices', a play she co-wrote with John Zachary Townsend that ran for a year from 2012-2013. Production of a short film adaptation of 'Standards & Practices' is scheduled to begin August 2015. Ellena has performed on the UCB Harold Teams: Dance Break, The Opera, CAPTCHA and Johnny Romance, and her ASP credits include The Macroscene and Improvised Philip K. Dick. She has performed at HellYesFest in New Orleans, Boston Improv Festival, Providence Improv Festival and the Del Close Marathon, among others. Her production company, Kasper Projects, produces works for stage, film, and web, as well as live performances pieces. She has a BFA from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago and is originally from Cleveland, OH.
