Mary Birdsong

[headshot]

MARY BIRDSONG is best known as Deputy Cherisha Kimball on "Reno 911," but has also graced Comedy Central’s screen with her work on "The Daily Show w/Jon Stewart," Lewis Black’s “The Root Of All Evil,” and “Crossballs.”  Look for Mary in the new HBO pilot "Suburban Shootout" (being touted as "Desperate Housewives... with guns!"  Other TV credits include "Ed," "Welcome to NY" w/Christine Baranski, "Late Night With Conan O'Brien," and many never-seen but delightful tv pilots opposite James Caan, Jill Clayburgh, Cheri Oteri, Scott Wolfe, and other names she will drop shamelessly when gripped by crippling low self-esteem.   Mary created a slew of original characters in the NBC sketch comedy cult-hit (meaning: "also never aired"), "Live On Tape" and wrote a series of one-acts for her alter-ego: 1940s B-movie star Janet Lamé, who appeared on something the kids are calling "television" on NBC's "Late Friday." In film, she recently appeared opposite Patrick Dempsey  in "Made of Honor," and this fall she can be seen in  "Adventureland" (by "Superbad's" Greg Mottolla).  Other film roles include Deputy Kimball in "Reno 911:Miami," & Rhonda in "Beer League."  Mary  also sings in the rock bands 99 Cent Whore (myspace.com/99centwhore) and Cottonhead.  On Broadway, Mary won a Theatre World Award in 2007 for her debut in the musical "Martin Short: Fame Becomes Me!," and also appeared as Velma Von Tussle in Hairspray.  In 2008, Mary starred in the cult-favorite “Broadway Bares” at Roseland in NYC. And Off Broadway, she created the role of Vixen Fox in Elaine May's "Adult Entertainment" (Dir. by Stanley Donen).  Mary also starred as Judy Garland in "Judy Speaks" (which she wrote) at the Ars Nova Theatre, and as Portia in "Julius Caesar" (which Shakespeare wrote) at Moonworks, both directed by Gregory Wolfe.  Fans can get more Mary info at myspace.com/marybirdsong, or by visiting her website-- http://marybirdsong.com
