Achilles Stamatelaky
Achilles is a comedy writer and performer in New York City. He was born in The Philippines and moved to New York City with his family when he was 8 years old.
Achilles has been studying and performing improv and sketch at The UCB Theater since January 2005. He has appeared in many shows there including One Night Stand, Maude Night (guest performer), and CageMatch among others. He was also a member for the Harold teams T.R.U.C.K.S. and Whorenado. In July 2007, he played Lord Voldemort in Up Late! With Lord Voldemort! , UCB's night of Harry Potter comedy. The sold out show, which he also wrote, directed, and produced, was featured in The Gothamist and NY Magazine's "Vulture Blog."
Outside of UCB, Achilles has studied at The Magnet Theater with Armando Diaz and independently with Christina Gausas. Achilles has also worked as a writer's assistant for the Onion News Network and developed a pilot for Sirius Satellite Radio. He has performed at many venues across the city with the independent groups Kid Dervin and The Fist Kisses. He has also appeared in commercials and on The Colbert Report.
He currently performs with the improv group Hot Lather in UCB's very own improvised soap opera, As The Diamond Burns. He is also a proud member of the Harold team Penthouse Riot, which performs Tuesdays on Harold Night. His favorite band is The Beatles.
