Lou Perez
Lou Perez is Luis Amate Perez, a writer/comedian based in NYC. He was a comedy producer on TruTV's Impractical Jokers and performs regularly at the Upright Citizens Brigade Theatre [ucbtheatre.com], most recently with Soundtrack NYC. He produces videos with his group, Greg and Lou [youtube.com].Greg and Lou won the 2011 NYTVF Pitch Contest, which included a development deal with MSN and Eyeboogie. Their independent sitcom pilot Blogof a Pool Boy [tv.msn.com] won the 2009 NYTVF's awards for Best Comedy andBest Actor.
In 2006 Lou co-starred in the film [i]Checkout[/i] [checkoutthemovie.com], directed by Dan Eckman, which won Best College Short at the 2006 HBO U.S. Comedy Arts Festival in Aspen. He is a former member of Hammerkatz, the 2005 ECNY Winners for Best Sketch Group.
Lou's performed stand-up at Carolines, Comix, Broadway Comedy Club, and New York Comedy, among other venues.
His writing has appeared in Fiction, Born in the 1980s (Route Magazine, 2008), Rejected:Tales of the Failed, Dumped, and Canceled (Villard, 2009), Beyond Race Magazine, ReligionDispatches, AlterNet, and Zouch Magazine.
He has a B.A. from New York University (Gallatin) and an M.F.A. inCreative Writing from The City College of New York, where, as an adjunctlecturer, he taught undergraduate courses in literature, composition, andcreative writing.[color=black]
