Lou Perez

[headshot] Lou Perez is Luis Amate Perez, a writer/comedian based in New York City. He performs regularly at the Upright Citizens Brigade Theatre [ucbtheatre.com] with his group, Greg and Lou Present Lou and Greg [youtube.com], and produces content for stage, film, television, and the Internet with Uh-Thank You Productions.

Uh-Thank You’s independent sitcom [i]Blog of a Pool Boy [/i]won the 2009 New York Television Festival award for Best Comedy [hollywoodreporter.com]. In 2006 Lou co-starred in the film [i]Checkout[/i] [checkoutthemovie.com], directed by Dan Eckman, which won Best College Short at the 2006 HBO U.S. Comedy Arts Festival in Aspen. He is a former member of Hammerkatz, the 2005 ECNY Winners for Best Sketch Group.

His written work has appeared in Fiction; Born in the 1980s (Route Magazine, 2008); Rejected: Tales of the Failed, Dumped, and Canceled (Villard, 2009); The 2nd Hand; The Gallatin Review; and The Minetta Review; and will appear in the forthcoming issue of Beyond Race Magazine.

He has a B.A. from New York University (Gallatin) and an M.F.A. in Creative Writing from The City College of New York, where, as an adjunct lecturer, he has taught undergraduate classes in Literature, Composition, and Creative Writing.
